GROUPON GETS LOUD: Chicago-based e-tailing discount service Groupon, reportedly a takeover target for Google, is now being used to sell recorded music. The start-up is kicking off its holiday “Grouponicus” by offering a digital download of Rihanna’s Loud album for $5, half off full price. Groupon is also e-mailing its subscribers a link to the deal, as well as promoting it on Facebook, Twitter and the Groupon website, which operates in more than 230 markets, including 85 in the U.S., claiming more than 13 million users.
