Eminem Back on the Screen

BACK ON THE SILVER SCREEN: Eminem has been attached to star in Southpaw, a boxing movie that will be written by Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, for DreamWorks, according to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily. The film, which would be the rapper's first since his 2002 screen debut 8 Mile, will also be about the struggles that inform his life and music as a fast-rising welterweight who gains the title, only to see his world crumble in tragedy before he attempts to reclaim past glory. DreamWorks co-Chairman/CEO Stacey Snider got first crack at the project because she was a champion of 8 Mile as Universal Pictures chief. The film will be produced by the rapper’s Shady Films managers and producing partners Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr, with Alan and Peter Riche of Riche Productions. (12/14a)
