Primary Wave Let's Good Times Roll

PRIMARY WAVE LETS THE GOOD TIMES ROLL: Primary Wave Music Publishing have acquired the publishing rights to the 1956 Shirley & Lee classic, “Let the Good Times Roll.” The song has sold more than one million copies, reaching #1 on the R&B chart and Top 20 on the Hot 100. The seminal New Orleans R&B group consisted of Shirley Goodman and Leonard Lee, school mates who were paired by executives at Aladdin Records. Goodman had a busy solo career, reaching #12 on the charts with Shirley and Co.'s 1974 Sugar Hill disco classic, “Shame, Shame, Shame,” as well as providing vocals for Dr. John, Sonny & Cher and the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St. Prior to her death in 2005, Goodman spoke about the origins of the song: “An old man shouted it out one night in a club as we were performing—‘Hey Shirley, come on baby let the good times roll.’ And I said to Lee, ‘Ooh, did you hear what he said?’ And the next night we sat down at the piano and wrote it.” (12/14a)
