True Grit holiday champ

THEIR AIM IS TRUE: True Grit is shaping up as the biggest winner of the year-end movie field. In its second weekend, the Paramount film, which cost $38 million took in an estimated $24.5 million, raising its domestic gross to $86.8 million en route to somewhere north of $100 million, and making it the Coen brothers’ most successful movie ever. While Little Fockers stayed at #1 for the second week with $26.3 million, bringing its total to $103 million, which amounts to just 64% of the two-week total of 2004’s Meet the Fockers—and it cost more than $100 million to make. There were no debuts for the always-busy week after Christmas, but several movies made big upward moves, including The King's Speech (up 70% as it expanded wide), Yogi Bear (+66%), Tangled (+56%) and The Fighter (+45%).
