WITNESS #1: This Is It director/choreographer Kenny Ortega, the first witness called by the prosecution, told Judge Michael E. Pastor that Jackson had seemed under the weather during rehearsals a few days before his death. “He appeared really lost,” Ortega said, adding that Mr. Jackson was withdrawn and had the chills. “It was scary. I couldn’t put my finger on it. I said, ‘Michael, is this the best place for you to be, or do you want to go home and be with your family?’ ” The next day, Ortega recalled, he was scolded by Dr. Murray during a meeting with tour organizers at Jackson’s home. “He asked me not to act like a doctor or a psychologist and leave it to him,” Ortega said. But earlier on the day he died, Jackson was once again “the Michael we all knew and loved. He was in a delightful mood, and we had an absolutely fantastic day.” (1/5a)
