Portlandia the Series

VIRAL VIDEO OF THE WEEKEND: Here’s one worth checking out over the long holiday weekend as Fred Armisen and Sleater-Kinney’s NPR muisic writer Carrie Brownstein co-star in their new series Portlandia, a pretty glib satire about the city “where the dream of the ‘90s is alive,” and you can actually sell a CD in a record store. This first episode from Lorne MichaelsBroadway Video for IFC (where it premieres next Friday, Jan. 21) is pretty ambitious, with deadpan cameos from Steve Buscemi and Jason Sudeikis as the leader of a polygamous cult on a free-range chicken farm.
