Bob Pfeifer's Back

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO… Bob Pfeifer, the ex-President of Hollywood Records and Epic A&R exec who helped resurrect Alice Cooper’s career? After serving time in prison for his involvement in the notorious Anthony Pellicano wire-tapping case, Pfeifer has penned a new "fabulist'" novel, University of Strangers, loosely based on the Amanda Knox murder case, with a nod to Chilean poet/writer Roberto Bolano. He has also recorded five new songs with his band Tabby Chinos, which can be downloaded from a card included in each book. The group includes No Wave stalwart Cynthia Sley, with special guests Pat Place, Jim Sclavunos and Gumball’s Don Fleming. Pfeifer’s foray into music is his first since a 1987 solo album, After Words, following a stint in the critically acclaimed punk outfit Human Switchboard. To order the tome on Amazon, click here. Pfeifer, along with fellow midwesterners the Dead Boys' Cheetah Chrome and the Pagans' Mike Hudson, are currently on a national Cleveland Confidential Book Tour. The three will read from their respective works this week in L.A. at Vacation Vinyl (3815 Sunset Blvd.) on Thursday at 7 p.m., the EMP Music Conference at UCLA on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and Book Soup (8818 Sunset Blvd.) Sunday evening at 5 p.m. (2/22a)
