Barry Weiss Exits the Building

BYE-BYE BARRY: Sony Music’s Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, about to exit himself at the end of the month, issued the following statement on the last day of RCA/Jive Label Group Chairman/CEO Barry Weiss, who leaves for UMG: “It is with much regret that I inform you that today is Barry Weiss’s final day with Sony Music Entertainment. Barry has spent 29 years with the Jive family of labels, 16 of them as its leader, including the last three years in his current role as Chairman/CEO of RCA/Jive Label Group. He has been a key member of our team and an important contributor to the creative and financial success of BMG, Sony BMG and now Sony Music for more than a decade. On behalf of the entire Sony Music family, I want to thank Barry for his many years of distinguished service, indelible hits and tireless commitment to great artistry, and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.” (3/3p)
