Spotify: 1 million paid

EK—A MIL: Spotify now has a million paid subscribers, up from 750k in December, Daniel Ek announced in a company blog post on Tuesday (see story). That tally gives Ek’s baby the biggest subscription base for any digital music service. The service said late last year that it had 10 million total users, the vast majority opting for the free version. The ad-free premium version goes for about $15 a month in the seven European countries in which it’s offered. The price point for the expected U.S. service has yet to be revealed. (3/9a)
