Coachella Ups Security

NO TRESPASSING: In the wake of the crowd problems at this year’s SXSW (see below), Coachella officials will be employing much heavier security this year, in place of the more disorganized and chaotic setup last year. That includes police checkpoints that start within a one-mile radius of the Indio Polo Grounds, as well as heightened police patrolling around the perimeter. No one will be allowed within one mile of the grounds without a writsband. That means that participants cannot ride bikes or walk to the grounds without a wristband, and damaged or altered wristbands are grounds for dismissal. Other than that, have a good time. (3/21p)
