The Voice's Solid Premiere

RAISING ITS VOICE: Look out American Idol, there’s a new game in town. The Voice’s premiere last night on NBC turned out to hit just the right ratings note. The Mark Burnett-produced singing competition improved the network’s season average in the time period by 89%. With a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 11.8 million viewers overall, The Voice is the highest-rated series bow on a major network since CBSUndercover Boss after the 2010 Super Bowl. Featuring Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as judges, The Voice was the #1 show of the night, out-rating ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and the supersized 90-minute Lady Gaga episode of Glee on Fox. The Voice bested Glee (4.6-3.4) from 9-9:30, and Dancing with the Stars (4.9-3.5) from 9-10 p.m. (4/27p)
