Blavatnik facts

WHO’S THAT MAN? Len Blavatnik, the “mysterious press-shy Russian-born billionaire” whom the press has anointed as the odds-on favorite to wind up with Warner Music, gets a brief but fact-filled profile from Claire Atkinson in this morning’s N.Y. Post. Blavatnik, who’s worth a cool $10.1 billion, made his fortune investing in industrial businesses in Russia—and is insistent that he not be called "Russian" since he emigrated to the U.S. more than 30 years ago. The 53-year-old is a key backer of Tory Burch, founded by the girlfriend of Lyor Cohen, and he bought Edgar Bronfman's Upper East Side townhouse for $50 million back in 2007. Blavatnik was part of a group that paid $2.6 billion to acquire WMG from Time Warner and later spent four years on Warner's board. (5/6a)
