Gaga on album concept

HIGHWAY UNICORN: Working the print media as well, Gaga sat down with Jon Pareles for a New York Times Q&A. Here she explains how she came up with the album concept: “Above all things with this album it was important to me that I evolved, evolved musically. It was natural and it grew out of the show. What would make this show better, what would make this show bigger. I knew I wanted it to be epic, I knew I wanted there to be some ’80s rock influence, I knew I wanted it to have this sort of, I call Highway Unicorn sound, where there’s a fantasy element, this mythological creature, this beautiful black unicorn with a long blond mane running down the highway with Bruce Springsteen playing in the background.
