Amazon MP3 does it again


DO IT AGAIN: Amazon has pulled another surprise, announcing a repeat of Monday’s Lady Gaga 99-cent sale today. "Clearly customers are really excited for Lady Gaga's new album," said Amazon Director of Music Craig Pape. "We saw extraordinary response to Monday's promotion—far above what we expected—she definitely melted some servers. So we're doing it again, and this time we're ready… If you missed it the first time, don't miss it today.” The promo is once again intended to spread the word about the Amazon Cloud Drive and Cloud Player—customers get 20 GB of free storage with any album purchase. But we're more interested to find out how high above 1 million units Born This Way will go via this second loss-leader sale. Wednesday's projections had the overall first-week tally at 900-950k.
