Turntable.fm picks up 140k users

BY INVITATION ONLY: This one is catching on fast. Turntable.fm has picked up 140k users since launching earlier this month—and you can’t even get in without a personal invite from a Facebook friend who’s an existing user. The online-radio start-up is esigned as a sort of cyber listening lounge in which users play DJ, making playlists and spinning songs with their friends. Users can either upload their own songs or choose tracks from Turntable.fm’s music library. It asppears that Rich Greenfield managed to get into the site. Wrote the BTIG Research analyst, “Turntable.FM is actually so social that you cannot even listen to full songs if you are alone in a room—you have to be a part of a listening room with at least one other person.” (6/24a)
