FTC Investigates Google

FTC OGLES GOOGLE: Google is under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission with an eye towards whether the monster search engine favors its own businesses over rivals. The company says in its blog post it’s "still unclear exactly what the FTC’s concerns are." Critics have long wondered if Google’s search algorithms are rigged to send millions of people to favored companies. California, New York, Ohio and Texas also are investigating Google, as are antitrust officials in Europe. Google says that it's "committed to giving you choices, ensuring that businesses can grow and create jobs, and, ultimately, fostering an Internet that benefits us all." (6/24p)
