UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC TAPS STEVENSON: Veteran talent exec Rob Stevenson, who had successful stints at Island and Virgin Records, has joined Universal Republic Records in the newly created position of Executive Vice President of A&R. The announcement was made by label President/CEO Monte Lipman. Stevenson will be based in N.Y. and report to Monte and Avery Lipman, while responsible for expanding the label’s A&R activities. Stevenson began his career in 1993 while working as an assistant account exec for Ogilvy and Mather. He eventually became VP A&R for Island Records in 2002, where his signings included The Killers, Fall Out Boy, The Bravery, Sum 41 and Thrice, cumulatively responsible for selling more than 26 million records worldwide.
