ICE, ICE, BABY: In what may well be an unprecedented move, the clip for the shimmeringly beautiful “Halocene,” from Bon Iver’s self-titled album premiered this week on NationalGeographic.com. Directed by Nabil Elderkin, the video was shot against the dramatic mountain ranges and vast flatlands of Iceland, with the landscape's singular beauty providing a stirring complement to the song. "That place is the most magical place in the world, it looked like Mars to me, so I always wanted to shoot there," said Elderkin of the location. "When Bon Iver gave me the reins on this video, I knew it had to be filmed there." (8/19a)
