GEORGE GREEN, 59, a classmate of John Mellencamp who co-wrote songs with him, including “Human Wheels,” “Hurts So Good,” “Crumblin’ Down,” “Rain on the Scarecrow” and “Key West Intermezzo,” passed away after a long bout with cancer. The Seymour, IN, native lived in Bloomington for many years before moving to New Mexico with his wife, Kathryn. Other artists to record George’s songs included Barbra Streisand, Jude Cole, Vanessa Williams, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Gary Morris, Ricky Skaggs, Sue Medley and the Oak Ridge Boys. Green’s survivors include four children, Nicholas Green, Carrie Evans, Ian Green, Sarah Bolivar and 16 grandchildren.
