iPhone 5 unveiling 10/4

WHAT’S APPLE COOKING UP? Apple plans to unveil the iPhone 5 during an event scheduled for next Tuesday morning (10/4) at its Cupertino HQ—the first to be hosted by new CEO Tim Cook. The company sent out invitations—though not to us—with the heading “Let’s talk iPhone,” along with several screen icons. The new iPhone is rumored to boast a voice activation tool that lets users aurally send text messages, make appointments and take notes. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said in a note Tuesday that Apple “will likely announce a redesigned iPhone 5 with a larger screen and thinner form-factor for $199/$299, and may drop the iPhone 4 to $99, possibly with slightly upgraded components and a new name, iPhone 4S.” (9/29a)
