QUEEN FOR A NIGHT: Queen was honored as BMI Icons at last night’s London Awards at the Dorchester Hotel to fete the year’s most-performed songs on U.S. radio and television. The Script’s “Breakeven” was named Song of the Year, with Andrew Frampton and band members Daniel O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan cited as co-writers of the song published by BMG Chrysalis. Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart,” co-written by Fraser T. Smith, was named College Song of the Year, while Romanian musician Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina copped Dance Song of the Year for “Stereo Love.” Pictured above before they had to return their tuxes to the rental shop are (l-r): BMI SVP Writer/Publisher Relations Phil Graham, Queen’s Roger Taylor, BMI President/CEO Del Bryant, Queen’s Brian May and BMI Executive Director Writer/Publisher Relations for Europe and Asia Brandon Bakshi, who hosted the event.
