ALAN MELTZER, 67, former Wind-up Entertainment Chairman, passed away over the weekend. Label CEO/President Ed Vetri stated: “Alan was a creative force in the entertainment industry and will be missed. His passion for music and long-term artist development was the capstone of the label and continues to drive us today.” Alan started Wind-up in 1997 with such acts as Creed, Evanescence and Seether, leaving the company in 2010. The label was formed by Alan and then-wife Diana Meltzer following their purchase of Grass Records after owning CD One Stop and the L.I.-based Titus Oaks music chain. Meltzer was also a world-class online poker player. Respecting family and friends’ privacy, no other details are available. (10/31p)
