Sony Acquires EMI Music Publishing

MEET THE NEW BOSS, SAME AS THE OLD BOSS: A consortium headed by Sony Music Corp., and including the participation of David Geffen, has acquired EMI Music Publishing for $2.2 billion, which gives Citigroup a return of $4.1 billion for the entire company after taking it over from Terra Firma’s Guy Hands, who bought it for $4.7 billion in August 2007. That means Sony/ATV boss Martin Bandier gets to head the company he left in 2002 with the appointment of Roger Faxon. For the full story, go here. For Faxon’s take on the publishing acquisition and his answers to employee FAQs, go here. (11/11p)
