FTP tops Spotify 2011 Top 10

SPOTIFY USERS GET THEIR “KICKS”: Foster the People landed two tracks in Spotify’s U.S. Top 10 of 2011—which reflects users’ song selections since the July launch of the service in the States—as “Pumped Up Kicks” topped the chart and “Helena Beat” wound up #5. The only surprise in this round-up of the usual suspects is that the Gym Class Heroes/Adam Levine concoction outscored Adele. Here’s the Top 10 with links to the tracks on Spotify:

Foster the People, “Pumped Up Kicks
Gym Class Heroes, “Stereo Hearts” f/Adam Levine
Adele, “Rolling in the Deep
Rihanna, “We Found Love
Foster the People, “Helena Beat
Maroon 5, “Moves Like Jagger
Nicki Minaj, “Super Bass
Skrillex, “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
Pitbull f/Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer, “Give Me Everything
LMFAO, “Party Rock Anthem

It should be noted that Adele appears in Spotify’s country-by-country Top 10s more than any other artist. Go to the link above and you’ll be able to navigate to the charts for Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K. Sub Pop and Merge were among the 300k indie labels added to Spotify this year, according to the service, which further reports that it added about 20k tracks per day during 2011 and now has over 2.5 million paid subscribers.
