IDOL INKS TO CONCORD: Casey Abrams, the 20-year-old singer/songwriter whose ouster on this past season's American Idol received nationwide attention, has inked a deal with Concord Music Group and will be managed by Red Light in conjunction with 19 Entertainment. With musical heroes Frank Sinatra, Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles and James Taylor, the multi-talented musician plays 11 different instruments by ear. Concord Chief Creative Officer John Burk said: “We’re excited to work with Casey and 19 Entertainment on fulfilling his great promise.” Abrams recently collaborated with fellow contestant Haley Reinhart on the holiday classic, “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” which was a Top 10 iTunes video. The Austin, TX, born performer spent his early years in Chicago before moving to Idyllwild, CA, to attend the arts academy where his father taught film production, studying classical bass, piano, improvisation, music history and participated in several jazz ensembles. He later went on to study music at University of Colorado at Boulder. His debut album will come out this summer (1/10a)
