Bruce to release Wrecking Ball

BRUCE CHANGES IT UP: Bruce Springsteen’s 17th album, titled Wrecking Ball, will be released March 6 on Columbia. The LP takes its name from Springsteen’s tribute to the original Giants Stadium, which he debuted live at the final concert there in October 2010, just before it was demolished. The opening track and lead single, “We Take Care of Our Own” (refrain: “We take care of our own/wherever this flag is flown”), is available for purchase at the iTunes Store (but thus far not at Amazon MP3) as of this morning. The LP was produced not by Brendan O’Brien, Bruce’s go-to guy since The Rising, but Ron Aniello (Candlebox, Jars of Clay), a journeyman who apparently got in the door when he helmed Patti Scialfa’s most recent album. Said Jon Landau in this morning’s press release from Shore Fire, Springsteen’s longtime publicity company: "Bruce has dug down as deep as he can to come up with this vision of modern life. The lyrics tell a story you can't hear anywhere else, and the music is his most innovative of recent years. The writing is some of the best of his career, and both veteran fans and those who are new to Bruce will find much to love on Wrecking Ball." (1/19a)
