Dotcom held without bail in NZ

MEGA PROBLEMS: Megaupload and its colorfully named founder Kim Dotcom have yet to present a defense to criminal copyright charges in U.S. court, or even settle on a legal team. But at a bail hearing in New Zealand, where Dotcom and three other company employees are in custody, their local lawyer argued that Megaupload had provided free access to major copyright holders, allowing them to delete files when they identified stolen material, the Wall Street Journal reports. Dotcom was denied bail today in New Zealand. Meanwhile, that Dutch police have arrested a fifth person in the case, according to the AP. (1/15a)
