FIRST AND GOAL TO GO: Featuring one of the more tightly contested Super Bowls in history, this year’s XLVI edition, featuring the Giants and Pats on NBC, posted a 47.8 overnight rating/7.1 share, virtually even to last year’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers on Fox, but attracting a record 111.3 million viewers, the most for any TV event in history, topping the 111 million mark set by the 2011 game. This year's champioinship reportedly logged the third highest Super Bowl overnight rating ever, behind only 1987?s XXI between the Giants and Denver Broncos and last year’s XLV, both of which pulled in a 47.9.
