Grammys-Shazam deal

SONG RECOGNITION HITS TV: If it made sense for the Super Bowl to be Shazam-enabled—which it was—then it’s a no-brainer for the Grammys. Shazam and the Recording Academy announced yesterday that viewers will be able to use the app to access a live stream of behind-the-scenes video from Grammy Live, tag, identify and look up the nominees in all of the major categories, and, of course, instantly purchase tracks from iTunes and Amazon. Said Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher: “The Grammys broadcast brings together two of the key aspects of the discovery service Shazam offers—music, which is our heritage, and television, which is an integral part of our future,” On the heels of last week’s successful Shazam-enabled Super Bowl, we couldn’t be more excited to offer people another ground-breaking experience while they’re watching their favorite artists perform live on television and receive awards.” (2/10a)
