BOMBS AWAY: This weekend won’t be a cherished memory for Disney, whose $250-million-plus 3D fantasy John Carter debuted with $30.6 million in what will likely be one of the year’s biggest flops. The next two opening films didn’t fare much better, the Elizabeth Olsen-starring low-budget thriller Silent House taking in $7 million, while the Eddie Murphy vehicle A Thousand Words, which finally got a release four years after it was made, registered just $6.4 million, finishing at #6.

3. Project X (Warner Bros.): $11.6 million, second weekend, down 45%, $3781 average in 3055 theaters
4. Silent House (Open Road/Liddell): $7 million opening, $3300 average in 2124 theaters
5. Act of Valor (Relativity/Bandito Bros.): $7 million, third weekend, down 48%, $2372 average in 2951 theaters
