Britney to X Factor, Kelly to Duets

BRITNEY & KELLY TO JOIN THE PRIME TIME SWARM: In other music-TV action—and there’s plenty of it these days—Britney Spears’ agent and fiancé, Jason Trawick, is reportedly in the final stages of finalizing a deal for her to become a judge on the second season of The X Factor in the U.S. Her salary will reportedly be $10 million. And ABC will enter the arena this summer with Duets, a singing competition that will feature Kelly Clarkson (who’s about to appear on The Voice as a mentor), Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke. Each of them will scour the country in search of a pair of singers to duet with “I think it’s really cool that we get to go find the talent that we believe in and that we get to perform with them—and at the same be able to help mold someone into whatever they want to do with their career,” says Clarkson in the trailer (above). Adds Nettles, “I think the element of performance with our partners on this show makes it different.” (3/12a)
