The Boss' SXSW Keynote

THE BOSS SPEAKS: Bruce Springsteen's hour-long keynote speech at SxSW today had the packed crowd of thousands cheering at every word. His remarks were punctuated with singing parts of songs to emphasize his point, such as performing The Animals' "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" and then demonstrating how “every song I’ve ever written” is derived from that song. "Listen up, youngsters," he said after showing how yet another Animals song,"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood,:" inspired his "Badlands" riff. "This is how successful theft is accomplished... It's the same fucking riff, man. " Our own woman in Austin, Ivana, who opened for Bruce with her jam-packed panel (see item below), was followed by red-hot band of the moment, Alabama Shakes.
