Iovine in RS

FEAR FACTOR: Jimmy Iovine sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone’s David Fricke that will appear in the next issue of the mag. The focus is on Iovine’s history as an engineer and producer, as well as his wildly successful transition to record exec, according to N.Y. Daily News Gatecrasher columnist Frank DiGiacomo, who got an early look at the piece. Iovine tells Fricke that working on Born to Run was “brutal” and that “we were all deathly afraid of Springsteen” during the recording sessions. “The guy was broke. You couldn’t borrow him, rent him, get him to compromise,” Iovine explains. “He didn’t give a fuck who you were. What you were going to give him. It was him and that record. That’s powerful.” (3/28a)
