Rock Hall responds to Axl, adds performers

NO APPETITE FOR INDUCTION: A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame spokeswoman issued a statement in response to Axl Rose’s open letter declining to be inducted. “We are sorry Axl will not be able to accept his Induction in person," it read in part, further noting that "other members" of the band are still on the guest list. Slash is reportedly still planning to attend, as is Duff McKagan, who’ll be doing double duty in Cleveland, where he scheduled to promote his book. The Rock Hall also announced that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform, as will fellow 2012 inductees Donovan, while Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood will join Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan for a performance by The Faces. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill have been added to a performance tribute to Freddie King, and LL Cool J will join Chuck D in inducting the Beastie Boys. As the L.A. Times noted, the 2012 class will bring the total number of performers inducted to 302. (4/12a)
