Banks to Carter for Management

BANKING ON CARTER: Red-hot hip-hop newcomer Azealia Banks has inked with Lady Gaga manager Troy Carter’s Atom Factory stable, joining acts such as Mindless Behavior and Greyson Chance. The Harlem-born bi-sexual rapper, who signed to Interscope in January, has a breakout single in “212” out now. Her debut album, Broke with Expensive Taste, is slated for release in September. The 20-year-old was previously signed to XL Recordings, home to Adele, parting ways with the label after citing creative differences. She just performed at Coachella last Saturday, where her 20-minute set included several covers, among them Prodigy's "Firestarter" and the Zutons' "Valerie," famously covered by Amy Winehouse, which she sang a capella. Carter is an active investor in several tech startups, including digital billboard creator Bread Labs and Turntable.fm. (4/18p)
