Weakend Box Office

YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE: Paramount/DreamWorks' animated sequel, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, topped the weekend box office grosses, pulling in $60 million at 4,258 theaters for a $14k average, beating out Fox’s Ridley Scott sci-fi flick, Prometheus, which earned $50m at 3,396 venues for a $14.7k average. Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman went #1-3, earning $23m for a two-week cume of $98.5m and a $6.1k per-screen average. Sony’s Men In Black 3 pulled in another $13.5m for a three-week total of $135m, while Buena Vista’s Marvel’s The Avengers added another $11m for a total of $572m. Fox Searchlight’s geezer-skewing The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel continues to do nice business, tacking another $3.2 million to its current total of $31m in six weeks, not bad for a specialty title.
