Platt to Exit EMI Music Publishing

END OF AN ERA: After 17 years and much rumor-mongering (especially by us), Big Jon Platt has decided to leave EMI Music Publishing, telling his staff in New York the news this afternoon. Platt has led the A&R team that has dominated U.S. marketshare for the last eight quarters, signing a who’s who of writing talent, including Kanye West, Jay-Z, P Diddy, Beyonce, Drake and Usher, among many others. Platt’s last day will be Friday, when he and the EMI Music Publishing team will pick up ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Award for Publisher of the Year for the 18th consecutive year. Look for Big Jon to make an announcement about his plans in the near future. (6/26p)
