EMI Leads Disease Initiative

A GOOD CAUSE: EMI Music’s Roger Faxon has announced the company is teaming up with the World Health Organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases and 160 other bodies around the world, to support the END7 campaign, which launched earlier this year. The initiative seeks to rid the world of seven curable diseases which currently affect 500 million children by the end of the decade. Thirteen pharmaceutical companies are donating all the pills that treat these diseases, but END7 need to raise money from governments and the public to get the pills to the children. Faxon explains the campaign will use "social media and celebrity endorsements to build an online army and to motivate governments to increase funding for neglected tropical diseases. This is where you and your artists can really help make a difference on behalf of children across the world.” Check out the video below for more information. (7/26p)
