David Chase's '60s musical movie

WOKE UP THIS MORNING…IN 1965: Not Fade Away, David Chase’s ’60s-era movie, and the feature-film directorial debut for the Sopranos creator, will hit theaters in late October or early November, Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman reports. There’s also a possibility that the film will make the New York Film Festival. Not Fade Away stars James Gandolfini, Brad Garrett and Jack Huston (the nephew of Anjelica and Danny Huston). Steven Van Zandt produced the soundtrack, which features songs by the Rolling Stones, the Kinks and other ’60s bands. In the movie, Huston and his pals play British Invasion staples in a cover band. Van Zandt also wrote and produced a new track for the fictional band. Friedman notes that the movie sounds like Chase’s Almost Famous. (8/16a)
