Sept 12 reveal for iPhone 5

12 X 5: As expected, Apple announced its next dog & pony show on Sept. 12 (that’s a week from today, kiddies) in San Francisco. In a wicked-clever move, the invitation emailed to journalists shows the number 12 casting a shadow of the number five. The iPhone 5 is expected to sport a 4.2 inch screen (compared to every previous model’s 3.5 inchscreen), a thinner body, a longer-lasting battery, a new nine-pin connector at its base replacing the present 30-pin one and 4G connectivity on U.S. carriers. Analysts predict the next iteration of the iPhone could sell up to 160m worldwide in its first two quarters, based on the amount of investment Apple has put into production lines in the past year, compared with about 80m for the iPhone 4S.
