Flea benefit for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music

PARTY AT FLEA’S CRIB: Flea turns 50 on Oct. 16, and that night he and Anthony Kiedes will host an invitation-only benefit at Flea’s house for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which was founded by the birthday boy. The intimate event will include acoustic performances by the Chili Peppers and Rancid, dinner and a silent auction featuring works by, among others, Raymond Pettibon, Damien Hirst, Dana Louise Kirkpatrick, Tim Armstrong, Maroon 5, Chad Smith, Santa Maria Novella, Fender, Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, Kelly Slater, Gagosian Gallery, Andy Summers and Shepard Fairey. The money generated that night will go to the expansion of the Conservatory’s facilities so that it can continue to provide free and low-cost music education to the L.A. community. The nonprofit’s primary mission is to provide scholarships to kids whose families would otherwise be unable to afford lessons. Donations are also welcome; got to http://www.silverlakeconservatory.orgfor details. We weren’t invited, nor would we be able to come up with the $1,500 admission if we were. But have a blast, all you movers and shakers. (9/19a)
