X Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Obama fundraiser

BARRY, JAY & BEY: During Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s $40k-a-plate fundraiser for Obama at the hosts' 40/40 club in N.Y., the Prez laid it on thick, saying Beyoncé “could not be a better role model for my girls” and drawing parallels between himself and Jigga: “We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are.” Referring to his hosts as “Jay and Bey,” Obama said they all “remember what it’s like not having anything, and we know people who were just as talented as us that didn’t get the same break, the same chance. We understand that...those of us who have been blessed with success and been able to walk through those doors of opportunity, we don’t slam the door behind us. We prop it open.” Obama left the stage doing a brief presidential dance to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” On Wednesday, the campaign tweeted a photo from the event with the accompanying text, “A couple supporters in a New York state of mind last night.” (9/20a)
