Smokey Goes Solo

SMOKEY’S POETRY: Bob Dylan once called William “Smokey” Robinson America's greatest living poet, so it's no surprise the legendary Motown singer/songwriter turns out to be a bit of a real bard. Robinson will read some of his work in Words, a one-man show that premieres at North Hollywood’s El Portal Theatre for two nights starting tonight. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will discuss his career and true life stories in a series of six epic poems he has written about the past 50 years that “is also a journey through American history.” Tickets are available at the box office, by calling (866) 811-4111 or online at www.elportaltheatre.com.
