WMG's Brave New World

ROGER AND OUT? With Roger Faxon announcing his departure from EMI after last Friday’s e-mail to staff, his name was immediately thrown in the hat for the now-vacant Warner Music Group job left open by Lyor Cohen’s Sept. 30 departure. Which raises the question, why was Cohen ousted if the powers-that-be didn’t have a replacement on tap? Could they be thinking of not replacing him at all, and going with the notoriously budget-conscious Stephen Cooper in his stead? Insiders now say Faxon is denying he’s been approached for the open position. As for Cohen’s next destination, sources at both UMG and Sony say he’s not going to either. (9/25p)
