YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE REPORT: Sony Pictures took the top two slots on the Weekend Box Office report, as the animated Hotel Transylvania set a September record with an opening of $43 million, followed by the well-reviewed time travel sci-fi flick Looper, which pulled in $21.2 million. The top 12 grossed $108.3 million, up 21% from the same time last year, according to our friends at boxofficemojo.com. Hotel Transylvania had a per-theater average of $12k, followed by Looper’s $7k. The rest of the Top Six included Open Road Films’ indie police hit End of Watch ($8m for a two-week total of $26m), WB’s Trouble with the Curve ($7.5m for a two-week total of $24m), Relativity’s House at the End of the Street ($7.1m for a two-week total of $22m) and Universal newcomer Pitch Perfect, described as “Glee at college,” which earned $5m at 335 theaters for a leading per total of $15k.
