Islanders moving to Brooklyn

PUCKED UP: When the NHL lockout is resolved, the hockey team formerly known as the New York Islanders will be playing at a new rink—the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the N.Y. Times just reported. The deal is expected to be officially announced this afternoon at a news conference to be held at the new arena with Islanders owner Charles E. Wang and Barclays Center owner Bruce Ratner. The team is named the Islanders because they’ve played on Long Island since their inception in 1972, but “Brooklyn Islanders” doesn’t sound right (of course, neither does “Los Angeles Lakers”). How about the Brooklyn Hovas? Because we strongly suspect Jay-Z had something to do with this. (10/24a)
