Mitchell Joins Sony Masterworks U.S.

HIS MASTER’S WORKS: Chuck Mitchell has been named SVP for Sony Masterworks U.S., leading the team in N.Y. and reporting to Bogdan Roscic, President of SME's worldwide Classical division. The 30-year industry vet previously served as President of the legendary Verve label, where he oversaw recording projects featuring Stevie Wonder, Sting, Chaka Khan, Elvis Costello, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, George Michael, Don Was and David Byrne. His most recent post was overseeing A&R and marketing for eOne Music, with a roster that included Cassandra Wilson, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Jimmy Webb, Earl Klugh, Steve Tyrell and The Bad Plus. Also produced under his supervision was the final recording by R&B legend Solomon Burke. Said Roscic: "Masterworks U.S. is an important source of music from many different genres for Sony Classical's worldwide business. Under Chuck's leadership, it will become an even more vibrant place for eclectic, quality music beyond the mainstream. But even I draw the line at the Temple City Kazoo Orchestra." (11/5p)
