Adele breaks 10m

BLACKJACK: Adele’s 21 has just passed the 10 million mark, becoming the 21st album to hit that lofty mark during the SoundScan era, which just happens to be 21 years in length. Whoa. The album reached this milestone in less than two years, putting it in the company of the giants of the boy-band era: Backstreet Boys' Millennium, which hit 10 million in its 39th week (February 2000), and NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which accomplished the feat in its 43rd week (January 2001). More fun stats from SoundScan: 21 is the third album to cross the 10 million mark in this year, joining Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory and Usher’s Confessions. (11/28a)
