iTunes charts

iTUNES 11 CHARTS: The iTunes Store has a crisp new look (and so does your iTunes library, assuming you did the installation) following the launch of iTunes 11 yesterday, and so does the Top Songs chart, which is dominated by collabs from some of music’s biggest stars. The top two slots alone feature will.i.am, Britney Spears, 50 Cent, Eminem and Adam Levine, while Alicia Keys and Nicki Minaj round out the Top 5. People who root for the underdog on the big stage (Go Irish!) will be pleased to note that The Lumineers occupy the #3 slot—and lest we forget, PSY (#6) and Phillip Phillips (#7) were unknown, at least in the States, a year ago. The Top Albums chart is diverse on this Friday morning, with #2 Timeflies representing DIY and #4 Tiesto representing EDM, while Christmas is now synonymous with #5 Michael Buble and #8 Rod Stewart. The final two spots on the leaderboard belong to The Lumineers and fellow rookie Kendrick Lamar, who have something else in common: staying power. (11/30a)
