McCartney-Nirvana 12.12.12

SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEART-SHAPED BOX: Paul McCartney will join the surviving members of Nirvana--drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear--for a set at tonight's massive 12.12.12 benefit for Hurricane Sandy victims, the L.A. Times reports. The paper further cites a piece in the U.K. tabloid The Sun claiming the septuagenarian Cute Beatle has been recording with the Nirvana boys; he previously appeared onstage with Grohl during the 2012 Grammys for an Abbey Road medley. The all-star concert at New York's Madison Square Garden will be broadcast on TV and in movie theaters and streamed via iHeartRadio. Proceeds will benefit The Robin Hood Foundation. Columbia will issue the soundtrack; for more details, check the Mill item from yesterday. (12/12p)
